Posted by reggaegirlabouttown

Mavado and Gyptian both performing at this years winterfest how exciting!!

RGAT got the chance to catch up with both of them in the days running up to the big performance

Both spoke to RGAT about their plans for the evening. Man of the moment Gyptian said to look out for the act he’s bringing on with him and as for Mavado its almost been two years since he’s been back and it feels like the Gully God is on fire – he’s warned that he is back and will be tearing up Brixton crazy crazy!

Mavado discussed  how important the UK is for Reggae also how much he likes the UK despite the weather of course! He speaks about how the peace break out’s been holding out in JA – the efforts him and Vybz have been making. The growing relationship between the Gully side and Big Ship crew and he also mentions his favourite girls in the biz are the likes of Ce’cille, Stacious and Tifa.

As to Gyptian, what can I say still as calm and collected as ever and still loving ALL the girls- the UK has been blessed with his appearances throughout the year, he was here last when collecting his MOBO award for best Reggae artist.  He spoke to RGAT about his future collaborations with Busts Rhymes, Mary J and the new track he’s done with Webstar which will drop in 2011 a treat for sure to look out for – its like that.

But back to 2010 a night not to be missed Brixton 02 19th December you know where to be!!

Exclusive!! preview from Sheba

Sheba Sahlemariam is one of dancehalls brightest rising stars. RGAT got a chance to catch up with her at a restaurant in brooklyn – the ghenet an amazing little place serving ethiopian cuisine which was delicious btw!

I expected to be meeting an artist bouncing around with attitude but as I entered the restaurant I was welcomed with a very warm smile and calm persona.

In a mix of softly spoken New York laced every once in a while with freestyle lyrics in patois she told RGAT about her time on the Island, what it was like working with the Killer on the remix of love of a lifetime, her new track rat-tat-tat-hot from her forthcoming album the Lion of Sheba and what it’s like being a rising artist from NYC in the world of dancehall.

RGAT asked her for something exclusive and all of a sudden out of no where she dropped it – a new track to be released in 2011.

So here it is!

SUMFEST 2010 ROUND UP

Posted by reggaegirlabouttown

And what a night! Reggaegirlabouttown was walking the streets of Mobay at 7am this morning heading back from a gig that was on fire. There were great performances from all the acts – and all people sticking it out till the end (for real). The night consisted of energetic performances, boisterous attitudes and big, big stage gear. Trust me everyone went all out. No one disappointed, the energy was through the roof… RGAT was lucky to be able to speak with most of the acts during the evening. They were all very pleasant despite most of them just coming off stage spitting hardcore lyrics!!
